A small branched upright and attractive ornamental shrub growing to 2-3m (6-10ft). Branches purple to brown which can offer some winter colour and it produces great catkins in the spring. Being closely related to Salix Purpurea, smaller whips can also be used in small craft projects. A native to the Balkans, its very hardy, and tolerates dry soil conditions.
